October 2008

Dear Prospective Red Brick Bench Press Championship Sponsor,

For the past five years, the Niagara Powerlifting Club has organized a bench press competition called "The Red Brick Bench Press Championship". This has been held at the Historic Red Brick School in the Village of Lewiston, NY. Over $30,000 cash plus about $2,500 worth of phone and food gift cards and non-perishable items has been raised from this event over the past four years. Over $26,000 has been given to the  Military Family Support Group of the New York Air National Guard 107th Air Refueling Wing here in Niagara Falls, NY. The Family Support Group in turn uses the money to help out local military families of all branches. The non-perishable items were sent to our troops fighting in Iraq. 100% of sponsor donations go directly to the Military Family Support Group. A portion of the money received from competitor applications is used to offset the cost of the Red Brick School facilities and insurance to hold this event.

This year our club has decided to have another competition. The date has been set for February 21, 2009. With an agreement with Marianne Gitterman, Lewiston Red Brick School Recreation Director and Lewiston Mayor Dick Soluri, we will host this event at the same location as the last five last years. We again are giving a small portion of the proceeds to the Red Brick weight room with the major portion going to families of our soldiers fighting overseas.

There are dozens of military families here in Niagara County that could use some assistance with their loved ones away. Our goal is to get as many sponsors throughout Niagara County and Western New York to make this a successful event and to show our support to our soldiers. Donations of food or gift cards would also be appreciated and used by these families. We could also use items for our Chinese auction that we started at our third event which turned out to be a big hit.

We, the Niagara Powerlifting Club, are volunteering our time and effort for what we feel is a very deserving cause. We want to show our soldiers that Niagara County, Western New York and powerlifters from all over the United States supports our men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you would be interested in donating to this worthy cause, checks, food and gift cards, and items can be addressed to Lewiston Red Brick School, 145 N 4th St, Lewiston NY 14092, Attention: Marianne Gitterman.

If you have further questions please feel free to call me or any other member of our powerlifting club.

Sincerely,
